Monthly Organization: January

Happy New Year, friends! We rang in the new year at 11pm (12am EST) with pizza delivery and boxed brownies. The perfect slow ending to a crazy, busy year. My/our goal for 2018 is to slow down and spend more time doing what we love, all while simplifying our life. Really, it goes hand in hand – when life is organized and stripped down to the basics, we can slow down AND fill our time with happy things. Over the weekend, I made a list of all of the things we needed to do before the end of the year […]

2017 Book Report

It’s hard to believe it’s time to start “recapping” parts of the year. I’m seriously stunned at how fast this year flew by! I thought it would be fun to share a list of books I read this year. One of my goals last January was to read more… that was it! I didn’t put any parameters on it, just to read more than I currently had been. Well, mission accomplished! I really do try to read at least 30 minutes each day – does it happen every day? Definitely not. But, when I do make time for it, I […]

Five Friday Finds: 2018 Organization!

I can’t believe it’s already time to start talking about 2018! WHERE has this year gone?! Today’s Five Friday Finds are all geared toward preparing for and staying organized in 2018. While I’m not the biggest fan of New Year’s Eve, I love the fresh start January 1 brings each year. It provides time to reassess, reevaluate, and recalibrate for an incredible year ahead. I’m not sure what 2018 will have in store for Grant and I, but I do know that we’ll be super organized to tackle everything life throws our way.

Gift Guide: NICU Parents

Yes, we’re talking BABIES today! Well, more specifically, NICU babies and their sweet parents. My friend, Megan, approached me with the idea to share a gift guide for parents who have a baby in the neonatal intensive care unit, and I was totally on board. For many families, having a preemie and dealing with all of the emotions of parenthood, child’s health and well being, and life itself can be so overwhelming. For people who want to help, they sometimes don’t know where to start. I was certainly in this group as I tried to support Megan the best I […]

Crockpot Vegan Chili Recipe

Lately, Sundays have been “crockpot” days in our house. With cooler weather, football on ALL day, and a bunch of last minute errands/projects/etc., it’s been really nice to spend only a few minutes prepping dinner – and just let it sit. Yesterday, I made a vegan, gluten free, crockpot chili – so many of you asked me for the recipe, so I thought I’d share it here! We had a few random cans of tomatoes, beans, and peppers in our pantry plus some carrots and sweet potatoes, so I thought it would be delicious all mixed together, and it was! […]

Stocking Stuffers for Guys

Happy St. Nick’s Day! What is St. Nick’s Day, you ask? There is definitely a religious aspect to today’s holiday, but I am going to touch on the cultural elements of it that make today one of my favorite holiday traditions. Growing up in southeastern Wisconsin, it was like Christmas part one. St. Nick comes on the night of December 5th, filling shoes or stockings with small goodies – traditionally oranges, pomegranates, cookies, candy, or fruits. I remember going to bed really early in hopes of waking up really early to dig into my stocking. In my family, St. Nick […]
