It’s about time! I’m finally sharing details from our relaxing, rejuvenating, and amazing trip to the beach for our Christmas vacation.
This came at the perfect time as our family has been through tons of transition this year! Dad is running a company, mom is working and holding down the fort and making Phoenix feel like home, Grant is working harder than I ever knew possible, I just started a new job, along with about a million other things for all of us. It was time to step back, unplug, and totally chill.
I think we succeeded! And we learned we could really use a selfie stick 🙂
Our days were lazy and full of: beach, pool, walks, bike rides, drinks, happy hours, exploring, celebrating, Christmas jammies, good eats, movies, backgammon, sleep, reading, and more.
When Grant and I arrived on the 23rd, the house was decorated, table was set, and we even had Christmas jammies on our bed to wear! Leave it to my sweet mom to make our home away from home feel just as festive as always! We had drinks at The Pearl and walked around enjoying all of the lights – even at the beach!
On Christmas Eve, we explored Rosemary Beach – it was so windy and humid but an awesome day together!
Christmas day was filled with beach time, a few gifts exchanged, cocktails, and these amazing Almond Banana Baked Oatmeal cups.
Our tradition for Christmas dinner has been to make something completely non-traditional and out of the box. My mom recently traveled to Italy and had the opportunity to make pasta with a Michelin star chef… so naturally we recreated her meal with our own Michelin star chef (Pops!). It was DELISH.
Homemade pici pasta with a tomato based sauce, basil, and grated parmesan.
We took the emphasis off of gifts and focused on our time together, something we should have done many years ago! There is nothing better than the gift of time, togetherness, and family. Wishing you and yours an amazing start to a golden 2016!
Until next time!
PS: This is number 11 on my 30 before 30 bucket list!
