Happenings 2.17.17

Where to start? I feel like we have so much to catch up on since my last update 10 days ago 🙂 I’m writing this with my office window OPEN and listening to the sounds of the city right outside our door. I keep pinching myself because I never ever imagined living in the city with my very own office. I am so grateful!

I am also incredibly grateful to all of you who have taken my survey (there is still time to take it)! Your feedback has been so valuable and I can’t wait to start using your topic ideas for future posts. It’s been so nice to receive feedback about what YOU want to read. And I will always take post ideas – that’s the hardest part, coming up with the topics! Most of all, I can’t thank you enough for following along!

Over the past week, we’ve been settling into city living and getting used to our new life in Chicago. I think what has been most surprising is the incredible community of friends we’ve already built… and we haven’t even been here a month yet! People have been so kind, welcoming, and hospitable and I am infinitely grateful to everyone who has opened their homes and arms to us.

My days have been filled with work, finalizing our home organization, cooking, baking, and exploring! I also decided on a gym – Orange Theory. It’s made me fall in love with working out again, and I absolutely LOVE the variety of workouts, how hard they are, and most of all… the feeling after I’m done!

Grant and I celebrated 5 years together with drinks at Sable – fun fact: (photos below!) we had dinner at Sable in August of 2012 when we spent one day in Chicago on our way back to Nashville after packing up my childhood home in Wisconsin. It was fun to go back and reminisce on everything (LOTS) that’s happened since then! Who would have thought we’d be living here almost 5 years ago?

We had a very low key Valentine’s Day – I made homemade marinara sauce and turkey meatballs and we served it on top of the MOST amazing noodles. I think they were like $10 at Whole Foods but they were SO WORTH IT. Recipes coming soon!

It’s going to be over 60 degrees here this weekend so we are going to get out and soak up every minute possible! Grant is studying for a HUGE work exam, so maybe I can persuade him to study outside for a while.

Happy Weekend!
