I’m Back!

March 2017 in Review

I wrote this at the airport waiting for our flight to NASHVILLE for a fun-filled birthday weekend, but of course it took me forever to actually finish it! I always love taking this time to reflect on the past month – things have been moving at lightning speed and I can barely keep up with our One Line a Day book let alone any other thoughts, adventures, etc.

March was full of friends, birthday celebrations, travel, good eats, and family. I did LOTS of baking – made my second ever layer cake – and many batches of cookies and other sweets. It’s been so nice to get back in our groove and start finding a routine living in the city. It’s definitely starting to feel like home here in Chicago!

Travel: We went to Madison, WI to see The Lumineers the first weekend of March. They ALWAYS put on a wonderful show. And, we got to see my friend, Emma, and cousin, Christopher, while we were there! I spent a week in Phoenix and can’t wait for our Easter trip (G gets to come along this time!). We also had visitors – I love hosting friends so please come visit!! We also confirmed all of the details of our 2nd anniversary trip to Iceland – I can’t wait to share more about that in the coming weeks!

Books:  The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, The Nest, Lauren Graham’s book – Talking as Fast as I Can, and I just started The Perfume Collector. I’ve been trying to take 30 minutes each night to read before bed and it’s been a really nice way to decompress and unplug before a great night’s sleep! I look forward to this time and definitely miss it if I am unable to fit it in.

Restaurants: Left Coast | Salvatore’s Tomato Pies | Field TableBeatrix | Stella Barra | Toast | Ingo’s | Glazed and Infused Donuts | Goddess and the Baker | 3 Arts Cafe | White Oak

Other: I was officially cleared to donate bone marrow! The last step in the process will be a follow up blood test at the end of April to triple check. Then, it’s go time! On a completely different note, I’m thinking about switching from Squarespace to WordPress. I used to use a WordPress site, and miss the functionality behind it – and, much of your survey feedback was related to design, printability, and organization of my site. I feel like I’d be much more motivated to stick to a blog schedule if I could “do more” with my site and make it more user friendly. So, stay tuned!
