2017 Book Report

It’s hard to believe it’s time to start “recapping” parts of the year. I’m seriously stunned at how fast this year flew by! I thought it would be fun to share a list of books I read this year. One of my goals last January was to read more… that was it! I didn’t put any parameters on it, just to read more than I currently had been. Well, mission accomplished! I really do try to read at least 30 minutes each day – does it happen every day? Definitely not. But, when I do make time for it, I feel so refreshed and recharged after – it’s like a little escape from reality into whatever book world you’re in at that moment in time. Lately, I’ve been breaking up my work days by reading a chapter (or more depending on how long they are!) while I eat lunch. It’s a nice break from screen time and is a good mental diversion, too.

So, here are the books I read this year – I was originally planning to order them from favorite to least favorite, but they were all SO different that it would be really hard to compare some of them. None of the books I read were terrible which is also a win!

It was really fun to give most of these books away as I finished them. I usually post on Instagram stories when I’m done with the book and I send it to the first person to respond! 🙂

  1. Behold the Dreamers – an all around incredible book and unique perspective
  2. The Dollhouse – always love books set in NYC
  3. The Nest
  4. Talking as Fast as I Can: From Gilmore Girls to Gilmore Girls, and Everything in Between – loved everything about it!
  5. The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society
  6. Small Great Things – if you want a book that immediately pulls you in, this is it. I read it in one sitting from start to finish.
  7. The Precious One
  8. Sarah’s Key – incredibly powerful
  9. Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet
  10. My Name Is Lucy Barton
  11. The Chaperone
  12. Secret Daughter – adoption rocks, my friends!!
  13. The Everything Store: Jeff Bezos and the Age of Amazon – incredibly eye opening about how much Amazon truly controls
  14. Commonwealth
  15. All Summer Long – my least favorite
  16. Primates of Park Avenue – almost done with this one. Just eh. Not great.
  17. Christmas at Little Beach Street Bakery – about to start this one (while celebrating Christmas at the beach!)

I’d love to hear what your favorite books have been! Are there any books already on your to-read list for 2018?
