It’s hard to believe it’s time to start “recapping” parts of the year. I’m seriously stunned at how fast this year flew by! I thought it would be fun to share a list of books I read this year. One of my goals last January was to read more… that was it! I didn’t put any parameters on it, just to read more than I currently had been. Well, mission accomplished! I really do try to read at least 30 minutes each day – does it happen every day? Definitely not. But, when I do make time for it, I […]
Happy St. Nick’s Day! What is St. Nick’s Day, you ask? There is definitely a religious aspect to today’s holiday, but I am going to touch on the cultural elements of it that make today one of my favorite holiday traditions. Growing up in southeastern Wisconsin, it was like Christmas part one. St. Nick comes on the night of December 5th, filling shoes or stockings with small goodies – traditionally oranges, pomegranates, cookies, candy, or fruits. I remember going to bed really early in hopes of waking up really early to dig into my stocking. In my family, St. Nick […]
Happy 2017! Is it okay to make goals on January 3? It’s fine, right? I’ve never made goals for the upcoming year before. I mean, I guess I’ve thought about what I’d like to accomplish, but I’ve never really written them down anywhere. Especially not for the whole world to see. But you know what? 2017 is going to be different – the year I let myself be me without caring what other people think or comparing my goals to someone else’s. That’s just not fair and life is too short!
From my little family to yours, we wish you a happy, relaxing, and delicious Thanksgiving celebration! Thanksgiving will always be my favorite holiday – one of the many things my dad and I have in common. I love the anticipation of preparing the menu, grocery shopping, frantic last minute trips to the store, spending all day in the kitchen, and enjoying an incredible feast surrounded by those we love the most. Today and everyday, I am grateful for my amazing husband, supportive and loving family, a career I am passionate about, and the opportunity to live in this wonderful world. […]
What started off as one update to share has now turned into THREE. (!!!) I’ve written and rewritten this post so many times I’ve lost count because I’m not exactly sure how to share this all. Know that we are truly, wholeheartedly grateful for every opportunity that has come our way and believe everything happens for a reason (when combined with a TON of hard work, dedication, sacrifice, and challenge). But first, here’s what’s happening! 1. I got a new job 2. Grant got a new job 3. We are moving to CHICAGO! You might be thinking WHAT? You just moved […]
